About Me

Hello!

My name is Maggie Lam (She/Her), and I am YOUR elected Faculty of Education President for this year. I want to start by thanking the students for their support and for voting for me to fill this position. In the upcoming year, there will be a lot of events, including the construction of a new SU building and the election of new presidents!

I reside in Liverpool with my mother and twin sister, and my family is Chinese and hails from Hong Kong. Fun facts: I am a baker who loves reading, going on museum tours, travelling a lot, and trying new things! English and Cantonese are two of my other languages! These are a few of the abilities and qualities that make me a sociable, compassionate person who is driven to help others. 

I ran to be the students’ President as I am passionate about making a positive and significant difference while in office and being there for ALL students, especially those in the Faculty of Education (FoE). I am thrilled that I can the voice for students during their time at university. 

I am eager to promote an inclusive, equal, and accessible learning environment to enhance and grow the students' academic and personal experiences at university.  I am aware of how crucial it is to have support during challenging times, and I want to be that person for YOU. I want to work with the teaching staff to see how communication maybe improved for both present and future students because I am aware of how challenging it has been for students to communicate with the teaching staff. I aim to tackle barriers to learnings that may include mental health, physical and/or hidden disabilities by exploring and looking a different ideas/opportunity to SUPPORT, DEVELOP, and ENHANCE students learning and development at university.
