Risk Assessments

At the start of every year (or upon affiliation, if this happens after September) all societies must submit their annual risk assessment for their regular activities/meetings.

For any additional events (e.g. Trips, guest speakers, workshops, competitions etc.) a separate risk assessment must be completed BEFORE the event takes place.

The Engagement Team have created a draft risk assessment which lists the most common society meeting hazards, however this list is by no means exhaustive and should be adapted and added too to ensure it is an accurate reflection of the society meeting/event. Download the risk assessment for completion here.

Completed annual and additional risk assessments should all be sent to suengagement@edgehill.ac.uk at least two weeks before the meeting/event takes place. If you need any help completing your risk assessment please get in touch.

Completion of this is compulsory - failure to do this may void your insurance coverage. For more information see below.

Insurance

All members of our affiliated societies are automatically covered by our Endsleigh Personal Accident Insurance Plan for Students, which is a Group Personal Injury Insurance Plan (Basic) provided by Chubb European Group Ltd. The insurance policy is renewed on 1st August each year for 12 months.

Where EHSU, with Endsleigh, have identified higher risk activities, we have also provided a higher level of the above cover (Elite Level) on a group-by-group basis. These groups are currently:

Climbing and Mountaineering, Eco Garden, Hillstart, Karting, Lifting and Fitness, Murder Mystery, SSAGO, The Core and Upstage.

An overview of the Basic Level Insurance Policy Summary can be found here

An overview of the Elite Level Insurance Policy Summary can be found here

Detailed Terms and Conditions of the Insurance Policies can be found here (covers Basic and Elite).

If you are involved in an accident as a member of a society, please contact Toby West at westt@edgehill.ac.uk

PLEASE NOTE the above only applies to:

  • Members who have officially joined the society via its page on the EHSU website.
  • Societies which have submitted their relevant risk assessments and constitution.
