Disciplinary Guidance

Disciplinary advice. ( Reporting Student v Student complaints)

A Guide by The SU Advice Team.

The Disciplinary procedures are the procedures that Edge Hill University has in place to investigate the reporting of student vs student concerns that may breach the university code of conduct, of which the core principals are, concerns about behaviour that could.

  • cause actual or potential distress or harm to others.
  • cause actual or potential damage to the property of the University or others.
  • disrupt the normal functioning or operation of the University, or
  • impede or interfere with the pursuance of work or study of those working or studying at the University.

Examples of behaviour that could be reported are:

  • Sexual misconduct
  • Bullying
  • Drug use
  • Harassment
  • Discrimination
  • Assaults
  • Threats
  • Hate crimes.
  • Damage to halls.

If you need to report inappropriate behaviour by students or staff members (similar to the examples above) you can do so by contacting the Student Resolutions Team via studentresolutionservice@edgehill.ac.uk or call them on 01695 584227

If you would like to be supported in reporting another student’s behaviour you can contact us at the SU advice team to speak to an advisor where we can help you throughout the process, e.g.

  • by helping you draft a statement,
  • advise you about evidence.
  • and accompanying you to meetings as your representative.

Similarly, if you have been accused of any of these above behaviours you can contact us for support and advice through the process (as per above)   by supporting you with your statement, evidence and attending meetings and panels with you.

Here at the SU advice team we offer non-judgemental, fair, and confidential disciplinary advice, whether you are either the reporter (“the reporting student” or the accused (“the responding student”)

If you would like representation or advice please book an appointment via https://ehsuadvice.simplybook.it/v2/#book or contact us on suadvice@edgehill.ac.uk
